Guy Ritchie to Direct King Arthur FilmVariety has confirmed a Pajiba scoop that Sherlock Holmes helmer Guy Ritchie is attached to direct a new King Arthur project at Warner Bros. Pictures. John Hodge ( Trainspotting ) will write the script for Atlas Entertainment and Hollywood Gang. The project is a re-imagining of the legend of Arthur, believed to have been a 6th century king who defended Britain against Saxon invaders. Something Borrowed for John Krasinski"The Office" star John Krasinski is in negotiations to join Ginnifer Goodwin in Alcon's romantic comedy Something Borrowed , to be directed by Luke Greenfield. Based on Emily Giffin's 2005 debut novel, Something Borrowed centers on a Manhattan attorney (Goodwin) who becomes involved with her best friend's fiance following her 30th birthday. Alcon also picked up rights to the second book, "Something Blue," with a plan to develop a sequel. The Hollywood Reporter says Krasinski has signed a two-picture deal for a role that is more supporting in the first movie but which evolves into the male lead in the second one.

Wizard of Oz in 3D?Hollywood is certainly staying away from Kansas these days. According to The Los Angeles Times, there are two possible Wizard of Oz projects that could hit the big screen. The first, entitled Oz, is written by screenwriter Darren Lemke (Shrek Forever After) seems to be a modern remake of the 1939 original. The second seems to be more of a sequel to the original story, and will be written by Josh Olson (A History of Violence) and Todd MacFarlane (creator of Spawn). Ever since Avatar reignited the 3D phenomenon and with the recent Alice in Wonderland solidifying the third dimension's time and place, it seems likely that major upcoming Hollywood fare will consider the technology. Guy Ritchie Wants to Become King Arthur!It seems that Guy Ritchie (Sherlock Holmes and Snatch.) is going to continue on a string of Hollywood fare, straying away from his independent roots. It was recently reported that Guy Ritchie had also signed on to direct Excalibur, aptly named after the sword of King Arthur and based on a treatment by Warren Ellis (author of comic series "Transmetropolitan" and "Planetary"). Robert De Niro to be an NFL CoachRobert De Niro is in line to play legendary NFL coach Vince Lombardi in the feature film that's being developed by ESPN Films, Andell Entertainment and the NFL. According to Variety, Eric Roth (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) has already signed on to write the script, which will chronicle Lombardi's career during the years he transformed the Green Bay Packers from the worst team in the NFL into five-time champions. Chris Olsen is producing alongside Robert De Niro and partner Jane Rosenthal under the Tribeca Productions banner. Both Patrick Wilson (Watchmen and Lakeview Terrace) and Liv Tyler (Lord of the Rings) are joining Charlie Hunnam and Terrence Howard in the suspense film The Ledge, which is a story of a man (Hunnam), standing on a high-rise ledge who insists that he must jump by noon time as the policeman below (Howard) attempts to alleviate the situation. Producers include Michael Mailer (Loverboy) and Mark Damon (Monster) and are backed by a slew of executive producers, including Howard himself. The film began shooting Monday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Craig Gillespie is the man they are looking for. He recently directed Lars and the Real Girl to critical acclaim. Alice in Wonderland Obliterates CompetitionTim Burton's Alice in Wonderland obliterated its competition this weekend, bringing in $116,101,023 domestically and $94,000,000 worldwide. Approximately 70 percent or just over $80 million of Alice in Wonderland's opening was from 3D screens, officially topping Avatar's $55 million as the biggest 3D launch ever. The film's budget was estimated to be at $250 million.
