ShoWest 2010: The Toy Story 3 Standee!Excitement is still at a high here at ShoWest from yesterday's premiere of a work-in-progress version of Disney•Pixar's Toy Story 3 , which you can read about here , but also yesterday, Disney secretly put up a giant standee for the new movie in the lobby leading to the exhibitors' convention. It's a fun look at the returning characters from the first two movies pulling the giant "3" across the floor with one of the Martians on top and the plastic soldiers pulling up a release date sign on the left-hand side. If you didn't figure it out from that sign, Toy Story 3 opens on June 18.

Hank Azaria is Gargamel in The SmurfsEntertainment Weekly is reporting that Hank Azaria ("The Simpsons") will voice evil sorcerer Gargamel in Sony's The Smurfs . Summit Entertainment Acquires Puzzle PalaceSummit Entertainment has acquired the pitch Puzzle Palace via a competitive auction among several studios. The screenplay will be written by burgeoning screenwriter David Guggenheim. The film will be produced by Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen via their Temple Hill Entertainment banner. The Hobbit Will Start Shooting in June!According to Ian McKellen (The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King), who is returning as Gandalf in the two films based on J.R.R. Tokien's The Hobbit, the film has been confirmed to start shooting in June. McKellen's official website says, "THE HOBBIT's, two films, start shooting in New Zealand in June. Filming will take over a year. Casting in Los Angeles, New York City and London has started. The script too proceeds. The first draft is crammed with old and new friends, again on a quest in Middle Earth." Guillermo Del Toro (Hellboy II: The Golden Army) will direct the two highly anticipated films.

Breaking Dawn Still Needs a DirectorSummit Entertainment is reportedly reaching out to three A-list directors to helm the final installment of the Twilight series, Breaking Dawn. These three include Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation), Gus Van Sant (Milk), and Bill Condon (Dreamgirls). According to Entertainment Weekly, no decisions are likely to be made until the studio delivers screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg's detailed outline to the directors. This should happen sometime next week. Until then, we can only visualize Bella's controversial birthing scene within our imaginations. The third Twilight movie, Eclipse is out in theaters on June 30th.

The film tells the story of NASA's beloved Hubble Telescope, the high-powered instrument used to view millions of lights years into space, allowing us to witness other galaxies and star systems literally where no human has ever gone before. The telescope was launched into orbit in 1989, where it was positioned 350 miles above the Earth. It immediately began experiencing technical difficulties and required a number of separate missions for maintenance. According to ShockTillYouDrop.com, Goldsman is also the frontrunner to direct Paranormal Activity 2, which is scheduled for an October 22nd release. Goldman's writing credits include I Am Legend, The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, and A Beautiful Mind. Paranormal Activity 2 will be his feature film debut as a director. The original Paranormal Activity was written, directed, and produced by Oren Peli, and only cost $15,000 to make. It eventually earned an impressive $183.8 million worldwide.

Paul Bettany is a TouristPaul Bettany (A Beautiful Mind) is now on the cast list of the romantic thriller, The Tourist, starring Angelina Jolie (Wanted) and Johnny Depp (Alice in Wonderland). The film revolves around an American tourist who visits Italy to mend a broken heart. But an extraordinary woman named Elise deliberately crosses his path. It has already commenced shooting in Italy, under the direction of Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck (The Lives of Others). The film has also picked up Rufus Sewell (The Holiday) as a part of its cast. It's unknown what roles Bettany or Sewell will play, but it's likely that they might be villainous in some way. But I'm sure we'll find out soon enough. The film is slated to release some time in 2011.

Jason Segel is a Muppet!Jason Segel (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) was already attached as a co-writer for Disney's upcoming The Greatest Muppet Movie of All Time, but he has now also signed on to star as the lead in the film. He will also be attached as a producer on the project. James Bobin is going to direct the movie with a script written by Segel and Nicholas Stoller, who directed Forgetting Sarah Marshall. This marks the third writing assignment from the How I Met Your Mother star, the first of which was Sarah Marshall, and the second being the upcoming Get Him To The Greek.
